No.189 - 365 Days of Buddha Dharma No.8

Letter No.08

Those to whom the Dhamma is
Clear
Are not led into other doctrines;
Perfectly enlightened with perfect
Knowledge,
They walk evenly over the uneven.

Samyuta Nikaya 1.8

No.188 - 365 Days of Buddha Dharma. No.07

Letter No.07

Things that are empty make a noise,
The full is always quiet.
The fool is like a half-filled pot,
The wise one is like a deep still pool.

Sutta Nipata 3.726

No.187 - Be like a lion

When you run after your thoughts, you are like a dog chasing a stick; every time a stick is thrown, you run after it. But if, instead, you look at where your thoughts are coming from, you will see that each thought arises and sissolves within the space of that awareness, without engendering other thoughts. Be like a lion, who rather than chasing after the stick, turns to face the thrower. One only throws a stick at a lion oce.

- Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

One is not wise
because one speaks much.
One who is peaceable, friendly and

One by one, little by little, moment by

as a smith removes dross from silver.

Dhammapada

Verse 239

No.182 - 365 Days of Buddha Dharma Letter No.02

No.02: Buddha’s Dharma for Contemplation.

Whatever an enemy might do to
an enemy,

the ill-directed mind
can do to you even worse.

Udana 4.33

No.181 - 365 Days of Buddha Dharma. Letter 01

No.01: Buddha’s Dharma for Comtemplation.

There are beings
who travel the difficult path
across the dangerous swamp
of defiling passions,
traverse the ocean of delusion
through the darkness of ignorance,
and go beyond.
They are sustained by wise contemplation,
secure in freedom from doubt,
liberated;
such beings are great indeed.

Dhammapada
